‘Belt shops exist’

HYDERABAD: Lok Satta Party on Friday claimed that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had conceded the existence of unauthorised liquor outlets in rural areas, but felt local women would have to get them shut by seeking cooperation of the police and excise department personnel.

According to a press release of the party, Dr. Reddy was talking to a delegation of Mahila Satta and Lok Satta, which submitted a memorandum seeking closure of ‘belt’ shops. It quoted the Chief Minister as saying that he would not deny the existence of such shops.
