LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday underlined the need for communal harmony and said “Roza Iftar” should be attended by all. “It is a pious occasion in which members of all communities participate,” he added. The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, who hosted an Iftar party at the Samajwadi Party headquarters here, declined to make any political statement. In an informal chat with newspersons, he said this was not the occasion for taking up any other issue. Mr. Yadav is known to host Roza Iftar parties whether in or out of power. Nearly all the senior party leaders, hundreds of party workers and eminent local citizens were present at the Iftar on Thursday evening. Mr. Yadav personally ensured that the “rozedars” were not ignored by his party workers. Thursday was the 22nd day of the holy month of Ramzan. The next Iftar party in Lucknow is to be hosted by the Governor, T.V. Rajeswar, at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. The Rashtriya Lok Dal too will be hosting an Iftar at the party office. The State unit of the Nationalist Congress Party hosted an Iftar party on Thursday.
