Education City and Food Processing Institute to come up at Sonipat Congress Chief to also lay foundation stone for Rewari rail projects CHANDIGARH: Hectic preparations are underway for the visit of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to Haryana this Sunday. Ms. Gandhi is slated to lay the foundation stone of the Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Plant at Jhadli village in Jhajjar district besides addressing a “Bijli” (Power) rally. She will also lay the foundation stones for Education City and a Food Processing Institute in Sonipat district and projects of the Railways in Rewari. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here on Friday that the State Government was not spending money on the rally as it was being organised by the Congress Party. Rohtak MP Deepinder Singh Hooda, who has been touring his Parliamentary constituency extensively and mobilising people to attend the rally in large numbers, told The Hindu in a telephonic conversation that there was tremendous enthusiasm among the people of the backward Jhajjar belt over the setting up of the Super Thermal Power Plant as it would usher in prosperity for them and the region. He said most of the land in the Jhajjar belt was un-irrigated and almost barren and the land prices were very meagre (Rs.1 lakh approximately). With the coming up of the plant, the land prices are bound to increase tremendously and a major fall-out would be generation of new jobs in the power sector. He further said that the laying of foundation stone of Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak railway line project would prove a big boon for the people of the Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak belt. According to reports from the entire State, Congress legislators and Ministers have been working overtime to ensure maximum turn-out of the people for the rally.
