BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has approved a new “Housing and Environment Policy – 2007” which promises to tackle the housing problem on a comprehensive scale. The new policy now seeks private sector participation on a significant scale to bridge the gap on the social housing front. It would also facilitate availability of government land to construction agencies at concessional rates for development of low-density habitations beyond city limits but within a radius of 30 km. This is aimed at reducing the population pressure in urban areas.
