CHENNAI: The Social Justice and Human Rights wing of the State Police has instructed its officials in districts to form special parties and conduct State-wide raids in villages which have come to adverse notice with regard to prevalence of two-tumbler system.
According to reports received from officials, the practice was prevalent only in certain pockets of Cuddalore district.
In most of the tea shops, disposable plastic cups were being used largely.
During raids in Sriputhur and Kallipadi villages in Cuddalore district, the two-tumbler system was found.
Three cases were registered.
The wing, in association with panchayats, political parties, Friends of Police and NGOs, had organised “social justice tea parties” in 77 villages in the State so far in which Adi Dravidars and those belonging to other castes participated.
