NEW DELHI: Unlike most seventeen-year-olds, Sharmishtha Ghosh is more fascinated with the painter’s canvas than with watching television. A Class XII humanities student at Sri Ram School, Sharmishtha has already held two exhibitions of her paintings in Delhi and Hyderabad and is now gearing up to hold a third at Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra here from October 7 to 14.
Elaborating on her plans, she says: “I will be showcasing 20 of my paintings prepared over the past two years, mostly comprising landscapes, portraits and still life paintings.”
Using oil colours and the technique of layering, Sharmishtha derives inspiration from her travels to various parts of the country and abroad. “Whatever I see during my travels I try to incorporate into my paintings. In my latest collection I have included paintings of the Pangong Lake, the Budhha and the Aurangabad Fort that inspired me during my visits to Ladakh.
