Not formal talks with IAEA: DAE
Mumbai: The Department of Atomic Energy on Friday clarified that it was not holding any formal negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for drafting a safeguards agreement.
“[The] DAE is not holding any formal negotiations with the IAEA for drafting the safeguards agreement,” said a release issued by the DAE’s Public Awareness Division here.
The department said it had not received any initial draft of a safeguards agreement from the IAEA safeguards department as reported in the media.
The clarification comes in the wake of reports that the DAE is holding consultations to work out an “agreed text” under the India-U.S. nuclear deal. — PTI
