GAIL plans nation-wide CNG corridor

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: GAIL (India) Limited on Friday proposed a multi-billion-dollar country wide CNG (compressed natural gas) corridor that could end up saving up to Rs. 60,000 crore in the import bill and help cut carbon emissions from vehicles. Unveiling the company plans at the India Energy Summit here, GAIL Chairman and Managing Director U. D. Choubey said this could be possible by establishing a supply chain of CNG fuel for automobiles and piped natural gas (PNG) for households along the cities and townships that fall near or along the gas pipelines.
