Rupee ends steady

MUMBAI: The rupee on Friday ended barely steady at a new nine-year high of 39.48/49 against the dollar due to sustained capital inflows, despite firm dollar overseas.

In an active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened slightly lower at 39.51/52 against Thursday’s close of 39.49/50 and dropped to a low of 39.55.

However, it recovered smartly and touched a high of 39.42 before concluding the day at new nine-and-a-half year peak of 39.48/49. — PTI
