CPT holds Bagan

KOLKATA: Title aspirant Mohun Bagan suffered a jolt as Calcutta Port Trust (CPT) held it to a 3-3 draw in a return-leg premier division match of the Calcutta Football League here on Friday.

Bagan now has 24 points from 10 matches. East Bengal is on 22 points after nine outings.

Bagan made a comeback after CPT found the lead in the 11th minute through its Nigerian striker Chukwukere Henry.

Striker P. Lalawmpuia found the equaliser in the 37th minute and then put Bagan ahead with his second goal a minute later.

Brazilian Jose Barreto made it 3-1 for Bagan, scoring a penalty in the 66th minute.

Dipak Dolui pulled one back for CPT with a 78th-minute goal. Henry then struck in the last minute to make it 3-3.

CPT is currently placed seventh in the eight-team league with just eight points. — Principal Correspondent
