THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The Gandheeya Navasakthi Sangham, has urged the Union government to abandon forthwith “the suicidal” Indo-American nuclear materials treaty, since it directly affected the hard-won sovereignty and independence of the country. It felt that the trust placed by the people in an elected government cannot be violated thus. No foreign agency should be allowed to inspect any of our nuclear sites. The Sangham was of the opinion that an ancient nation with India’s stature should not enter into any treaty with the United States, which had unleashed “state terrorism” on a fellow Asian nation, Iraq, causing the death of over three quarters of a million people.
