Writ petition admitted
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday admitted a public interest litigation (PIL) petition by the National Federation of Blind, Mysore.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice Anand Byrareddy ordered issue of notices to the Selection Authority and Deputy Director of Public Instruction, State Government and other respondents.
The association had sought a direction to the State Government to issue a fresh notification on the recruitment of teachers by providing reservation for the blind in accordance with the provisions of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.
Challenging the July 30 notification, the association said it violated the provisions of the Disabilities Act.
The Division Bench adjourned further hearing on the petition.
