NEW DELHI: The government is planning to conduct a study to assess the negative impact on health by excessive use of mobile phones. “We plan to conduct a long term study to find out the negative effects of mobile and mobile towers on users,” Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said here on Friday. He was talking to reporters at a function marked to upgrade the Indian Council of Medical Research as a department. Dr. Ramadoss said he had asked the Indian Council of Medical Research — now Department of Health Research — to conduct the study. “Mobile phones are being used by kids who often complain of headaches,” he said. The study would take at least 5 to 10 years to come out with its findings. Dr. Ramadoss said the Ministry was planning to come out with health guidelines for people working in BPOs and IT companies.
