The winners were selected through SMS, voice call and e-mails from audience of films released in 2006. KOCHI: Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine won the awards for best actors in the first film awards instituted by Jeevan TV in association with Maestromania, an advertisement agency based in Thiruvananthapuram. The winners were selected through SMS, voice call and e-mails from audience of films released in 2006. Mohanlal was chosen for his performance in films Rasathantram and Keertichakra, while Meera Jasmin bagged the award for her performance in Rasathantram and Rathrimazha. The awards were announced by Baby Mathew Somatheeram, managing director of Jeevan TV. The award for the best actor (male) carries a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh and that for the best actor (female) carries a prize of Rs.50,000. Rasathantram, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, has been selected as best film and Roshan Andrews has been selected as best director for the film Notebook. Kamal won the award for screenplay for the film Karuthapakshikal. Azhakappan won the award for best cinematography (Photographer), Ranjan Abraham for editing (Classmates and Notebook), Alex Paul for music (various films), Vayalar Saratchandra Varma for lyrics (various films), Vineeth Sreenivasan (various films) and K.S. Chitra (various films) for singers, Sai Kumar (Anandabhairavi) and Lakshmi Gopalaswami (Keertichakra) for second best actors, and P.R. Mani (Photographer) and Malavika Nair (Karuthapakshikal) for best child actors. Special awards were given to Jagathy Sreekumar (Pakal and Yes, Your Honour) and KPAC Lalitha (Rasathantram) for best actors. Special awards for popular choice were given to Sreenivasan for acting and to the film Classmates. Special prize of ponnada and Rs.25,000 will be given to Madhu for overall contribution to the film industry. The awards will be presented at a function to be held in Thiruvananthapuram. Christopher George, chief operating officer, and John Pascal, director, of Jeevan TV, and Santhosh and Siju, managing partners of Maestromania, were present for announcing the award.
