Minimum interest rate of 4 per cent and 5 per cent will be charged from beneficiaries Those with disability of 40 per cent or more eligible for cooperative bank loans Dharmapuri: The District Administration has invited applications from disabled persons to extend loan assistance for starting various self-employment ventures. The National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation will provide loan assistance up to Rs.2.50 lakh to start self-employment ventures. According to a Collectorate release, a minimum interest rate of four and five percent would be charged from the beneficiaries. People with disability of 40 percent or more would be eligible to get loan assistance from cooperative banks. Eligible persons should possess National Identity Card. The annual income of parents/guardian should not exceed Rs.55,000 for those residing in rural areas and Rs.60,000 for those residing in urban areas. Disabled persons in the age group of 18 to 55 years are eligible to apply under the scheme. Parents and spouse of mentally retarded persons, as well as those with cerebral palsy and autism are eligible to avail of loan assistance from NHFDC on their behalf. NHFDC will provide loan assistance to the tune of Rs.2.50 lakhs for starting self-employment ventures and up to Rs.5 lakhs for agricultural activities. More information can be obtained from the office of the District Disabled and Rehabilitation Officer at the Dharmapuri Collectorate, a press release said.
