Three-in-a row for Gaurav

CHENNAI: Gaurav Nandrajog completed an easy win over Harinder Pal Singh to collect his third title on the trot in the TNSRA closed circuit squash event, a Professional Squash Association (PSA) programme here on Saturday.

Having won the fourth and fifth circuits earlier, Gaurav, a trainee at the ICL Academy, as is his opponent, won in four games (11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7) to take the sixth and final event in this circuit, meant for Indian players only.

Barring those brief mid-contest moments game where from a 9-9 position he won the second game before dropping the third, Gaurav never needed to fight hard. In all Gaurav needed just 48 minutes to earn the victory.

The latest rankings of Indian players in the PSA circuit: Saurav Ghosal 48, Ritwik Bhattacharya 66, Harinder Pal Singh 138, Naresh Kumar 143, Parth Sharma 161, Gaurav Nandrajog 169, Parthiban 187 and Siddharth Suchde 246.

Easy for ABM Infotech

ABM Infotech trounced Indian Airlines 5-0 in a CHA first division hockey match at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, in Chennai on Saturday.

Raja scored a brace, while Charles, Arunkumar and Vinoth netted one goal each.

The three-day under-13 cricket match between City and Combined Districts played here at ICL-Gurunanak ended in a draw on Saturday; with City’s first innings not completed, neither side gained the lead.

M. Adityan top-scored with 61 to help City reach 193 for eight, in response to Districts’ 213. Prasanna Venkatesan and Arun Niwas took two wickets each. The return match will be played in Dalavoi.

The scores: Combined Districts 213 drew with City 193 for eight in 132 overs (Geeth Puri 39, M. Adityan 61).
