Research scholars meet V-C

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A delegation of the Delhi University Researchers’ Coordination Committee met Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental this past week to discuss their demands for implementation of the University Grants Commission scholarship for research scholars and revival of the Delhi University Researchers’ Association.

“On the issue of UGC scholarships, Prof. Pental said since the University did not have enough funds, it might have to resort to distributing scholarships on the basis of merit. But this was not acceptable to us, since this criterion would lead to discrimination and contempt of the very purpose for which the UGC had instituted them,” said Vipul Pachori, coordinator of the Committee.

No assurance on DURA revival

As for their efforts to revive the Delhi University Researchers’ Association, the Committee claimed that the Vice-Chancellor did not give any assurance on the matter.
