Retain Pondicherry’s name: BJP

PUDUCHERRY: The State unit of the Bharathiya Janata Party on Sunday urged the Government to retain the old name of Pondicherry for the town, which is the capital of the Union Territory.

Puducherry BJP unit president M.Visweswaran said in a statement that the Government should take into account the long term interest of the Union Territory while retaining the name of the UT’s capital as Pondicherry.
