BANGALORE: The former Irrigation Minister, H.N. Nanje Gowda, has called for immediate dissolution of the Legislative Assembly and imposition of President’s rule. Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Mr. Gowda said the State had been facing a constitutional crisis. Mr. Gowda said the Governor should not allow the Assembly session to be held on October 18. The former Ministe pointed out that the Chief Minister in his statement on Sunday had said that he wanted to use the session to publicise his “good work” in the last 20 months. Mr. Gowda said House sessions have their own sanctity and they were held for discussing policies and the problems of the people and not for the Chief Minister or any individual to publicise his achievements. The Governor should not value the decisions taken at the “Cabinet meeting,” Mr. Gowda said. Training his guns at Janata Dal (S) president H.D. Deve Gowda, Mr. Gowda stated that Mr. Deve Gowda became Prime Minister even though his party had only 16 members of Parliament. Similarly, H.D. Kumaraswamy became Chief Minister even though his party had fewer seats compared to two other major parties. Mr. Gowda alleged that the political situation in Karnataka had become worse than Bihar owing to community and communal politics. He said the so-called secular parties were playing community and caste cards when they found the going tough. The former Minister said both the Janata Dal (S) and Congress had no internal democracy, which was why they could not run their governments democratically.
