Welcome

North Korea’s decision to declare all its nuclear programmes and disable its main atomic reactor by the year end under U.S. supervision is welcome. But such selective approach to de-nuclearisation will not serve the long-term goal. While the U.S. explored all options to resolve the North Korean issue, it is systematically turning a blind eye to the dangerous developments in Pakistan. There are few takers for the Pakistan government’s argument that the nuclear arsenal is in safe hands.

Sibani Sankar Samantaray,

Bhubaneswar

North Korea’s decision is a step in the right direction. It will not only herald peace but also set an example to other developing nations which may be toying with the idea of becoming nuclear power states.

P.U. Krishnan,

Udhagamandalam
