KOCHI: A passenger of a tourist boat, who fell into the backwaters near Mulavukad on Saturday night, is still missing. Kurian Simon, 38, lost his balance while trying to climb on to the upper deck. The incident occurred near the Cicily boat jetty in the Mulavukad island. Mr. Kurian was among the group of people who had arranged a party on board the boat. The Mulavukad Police said that Mr. Kurian could not be traced despite rescue efforts carried out by divers of the Navy, Fire and Rescue Services and the police. The revellers boarded the boat at 6 p.m. and went up to Chitoor. They were on their way back to Ernakulam when Mr. Kurian fell into the water. The divers gave up the search on Sunday evening. They will resume the search on Monday. The police said they were probing into the incident.
