Model Lok Sabha inaugurated BANGALORE: Well-meaning people, who are committed to values and principles, should enter politics to uplift democracy from its present sad spectacle, said the former Minister and bureaucrat J. Alexander. Inaugurating the “Model Lok Sabha” competition organised by Young Men’s Christian Association on Monday, Mr. Alexander called upon students to shed their inhibitions and use their voting power. They should also inspire others in casting vote. “Develop keen interest in what is happening in the country and the world,” he said. Mr. Alexander said despite the present state, democracy had been pretty safe in the country. “Our neighbours (Pakistan) are still struggling to enjoy the same democracy.” People should respect and further strengthen the Judiciary, Executive and Legislature, which were the three pillars of democracy. The competition was organised for graduate and postgraduate students.
