Ramineni Foundation awards announced

HYDERABAD: P. Ramachandra Rao, Director of Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, will receive the Visishta Puraskaaram of Dr. Ramineni Foundation USA for the year 2007 while renowned mimicry artiste Nerella Venu Madhav, playback singer P. Susheela and author of children’s literature Reddi Raghavaiah will be the year’s recipients of the Visesha Puraskaarams by the foundation.

Mr. Rao will be felicitated with a citation and a cash award of Rs. 50,000 while the others will receive a citation and a cash award of Rs. 20,000 each.

Announcing the awards at a press meet on Monday, convener of the foundation and film artiste A. V. Subrahmaniam (better known as AVS) presented an overview of the Ramineni Foundation.

Instituted in the name of Ramineni Ayyanna Choudary, a US-based entrepreneur in 1995, the foundation spread its reach to the fields of arts, science and education over the years, he said.
