To commemorate 60 years of Indian Independence, Habiart Foundation has organised a special exhibition, “Rang De India”, showcasing the best of legendary artists. The five-day exhibition at the All-India Fine Arts and Crafts Society gallery on Rafi Marg in the Capital is open up to this Friday. Featuring works of over 40 artists, these paintings are varied in nature -- ranging from landscapes to figures, watercolours to oils and acrylics. According to Habiart Foundation, the artists presented at the group show are emerging and talented and at the same time the exhibition will showcase some of the country’s leading names in art who are valued and respected across the globe. “Rang De India’” thereby celebrates this group of artists who colour India with their own unique strokes and expressions. The Habiart Foundation has been associated with several other art events, workshops and fairs in the past as well as “Art in Everyday Living”, an art camp organised in 1998, and “White Nights”, an exhibition of etchings from Russia organised in 1994. Art projectsFrom 2001 to 2007, the Foundation has also been associated with projects such as “Art Against Terror” which involved creative protest against violence and terrorism by over 150 artists whose works were displayed it the Parliament House annexe in New Delhi in 2002. The Foundation also co-organised a special exhibition titled “Hello Mona Lisa!” as an initiative to discover the mystery of Mona Lisa and make an effort to understand it in contemporary art language. Under this initiative, 12 artists interpreted the famous Mona Lisa in their individualistic styles. Manisha Jha
