D.N. Vyas KORAPUT: Air Force platinum jubilee was celebrated by the Air Force liaison establishment at HAL, Engine Division, in Sunabeda on Monday night. Highlighting the glorious history of the India Air Force, Wing Commander B.V.S. Reddy said that the force, which was started in 1932 with six Royal Air Force Trained officers, 19 Hawai Sepoys (presently called Airmen) and four Westland Wapiti Aircrafts, had improved its position over the years and was at present equipped with a trained population of 1.2 lakh air warriors. Laudable roleComplimenting the effort of India Air Force for extending help to the world at the time of need, he added that the Air Force in its inventory had nearly 1700 different types of aircraft, various missile systems like air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air missiles to its credit. Participating as chief guest, D.N. Vyas, Executive Director of HAL, while appreciating the role of the Air Force in safeguarding the nation’s interests, assured to extend all the possible assistance to its unit at Sunabeda. Officials from NAD, CISF and other officials from HAL took part in the celebration . CompetitionsEarlier in the day, various programmes like sports meet, drawing competition, talent hunt and quiz were organised for the family members of all personnel.
