CM to inaugurate biggest Indiramma colony today

To disburse Rs. 108.16-cr. financial aid to 7,722 women SHGs



Festive atmosphere: The new Indiramma colony at Dharmavaram in Anantapur district being spruced up on Tuesday, on the eve of its inauguration by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday.

DHARMAVARAM: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will inaugurate the biggest colony constructed under the Indiramma scheme in the State so far here on Wednesday. About 2,000 houses sanctioned under the first phase are under different stages of completion in the colony.

The Indiramma colony coming up on Pyadindi road would also have another 1,500 houses to be constructed under the second phase. On completion of two phases, the colony would have 3,500 houses to make it the biggest Indiramma housing colony in the State. Drinking water, roads and electricity have also been provided.

Asked about the quality of construction, two beneficiaries Gayatri and Venkatalaxmamma said they were satisfied completely as they had been supervising the progress personally. Apart from inaugurating the housing colony, the Chief Minister would also disburse Rs. 108.16 crore as financial assistance with bank linkage to 7,722 women self-help groups.

District Collector N. Sridhar stated on Tuesday that the Chief Minister would arrive in the weavers’ town at 12.30 p.m. by the State helicopter from Dhone in Kurnool district and will participate in different programmes till 2.30 p.m. After inaugurating the housing colony by unveiling a pylon the Chief Minister would examine a few houses and interact with beneficiaries.

Later, he would address a public meeting and would meet the officials and party men before flying off to Chittoor district.
