Varanasi: In a shocking incident a newborn girl child was found buried alive in the city, police said on Tuesday. Some passers by spotted the crying girl child, buried under soil on the roadside in the Maldahiya area on Monday, they said. The police was informed and the child was taken out, they said, adding she was in a healthy condition and was admitted to a local hospital with the help of an NGO, Childline. Many families have come forward to adopt her, they added. The matter was under investigation, police said.
