Strengthening work: Workers carrying out minor repair works at Amaravathi reservoir near Udumalpet.—
UDUMALPET: Public Works Department authorities have completed a ‘minor repair’ work at the downstream of the Amaravathi Reservoir, near here, following a minor crack in the road formation of the dam.
A half-an-inch crack appeared to a length of around 50 metres on the road formation.
Official sources said that road formation was strengthened at a cost of Rs.4 lakh by replacing the loose soil. A portion of parapet walls were replaced and the black top road was repaired, sources said.
Asserting that there is no cause for concern of the safety of the dam, sources said that it was only a minor problem, which was rectified immediately.
