Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal honoured Hindi author Bilas Bihari with the 13th Rattan Sharma Memorial Award here on Monday for his book “Aath hazaar varsh ka balak” (An 8,000-year-old child).

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bansal said there was a need to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and social values among children. He expressed concern over television channels dishing out ``sub-standard programmes” that were not healthy for children’s growth as good citizens. Mr. Bihari said his book is the saga of a child’s courage and scientific temperament
