NEW DELHI: A city court on Tuesday sentenced an engineer who voluntarily pleaded guilty in a cheating case to a years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) for not providing mobile phones inspite of taking money for it through an on-line auction bid four years ago.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Sanjeev Jain held Ranjith S (28), guilty, after he confessed that he did not provide mobile phones inspite of taking money from K B Sachin, Prabhjot Singh and others and also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.
The prosecution said K B Sachin, Ravi Gulati, Prabhajot Singh, Manjoor Ali and Prem Sehgal had participated in an on-line auction bid on Indiatimes.com in September 2003.
