BANGALORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N. Dharam Singh has welcomed the imposition of President’s rule in the State. The Governor, Rameshwar Thakur, recommended to the Centre the imposition of President’s rule on Monday night soon after H.D. Kumaraswamy submitted his resignation to the Governor, a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) withdrew support to his Government. Janata Dal (U) State unit president B. Somasekhar on Thursday congratulated Governor Rameshwar Thakur for ending the political stalemate and recommending President’s rule after H.D. Kumaraswamy Ministry resigned. Leaders criticisedCriticising the behaviour of the leaders of the coalition partners and their hankering for power at a press conference, Mr. Somasekhar said it hurt the sensitivities of the people, known for their maturity and supporting value-based politics and culture. Mr. Somasekhar said the quality of politics was deteriorating because of the dynastic rule in the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular). Unfortunately, the leaders were falling a prey and joining such parties for the sake of power and money. Reminding that the Janata Party was a product of the J.P. movement which fought against family rule, corruption and muscle power, Mr. Somasekhar called upon the former ministers of the Janata Pariwar such as P.G.R. Sindhia and Ramesh Kumar to return to the party. Mr. Somasekhar said he was in touch with all the leaders of the Janata Parivar and would meet them individually in the coming days to mobilise their support for bringing unity among the non-Congress and non-BJP parties. He urged the Governor to review the decisions taken by the Kumaraswamy Ministry, particularly with regard to SEZs.
