Court boycott

The news that lawyers of the Madras High Court boycotted work for the third day in succession is disturbing.

Lawyers, teachers, and other learned professionals should find a way to resolve their issues by following a route that does not paralyse the functioning of institutions or ride roughshod over the rights of the common man.

C.P. Srinivasan,

Apex, North Carolina

Advocates can always approach courts for redress of their grievances. Boycott of courts not only causes inconvenience to the litigants but also leads one to believe that the members of the profession who take up the cause of citizens in courts do not have faith in the judicial process.

C.P. Prasanth Gopal,

Chennai

It is disheartening to see lawyers resorting to court boycott, paralysing the administration of justice. The judiciary should be allowed to adjudicate on the issue on merits, even though it involves lawyers.

B.R. Geetha,

Salem
