Yadava College takes title

Madurai: Yadava College (Madurai) bagged the Muthiah Ambalam memorial Trophy with an exciting win over Ayya Nadar Janakiammal College (Sivakasi) in the last match of the four-team league in the Madurai Kamaraj University championship volleyball (men) tournament at the University indoor stadium here on Tuesday.

In a seesaw battle, ANJA led 12-10 in the decider. However, Yadava equalled at 12. The score was 13-13 when Rajaseker’s thundering smashes clinched the issue in Yadava’s favour.

SIT triumphs

Sethu Institute of Technology (Kariapatti) claimed the Dr. E.M. Abdullah memorial Trophy with an all-win record in the semifinal round-robin league of the sixth annual State-level inter-engineering college volleyball tournament at Ramanathapuram on Tuesday.

Mohamed Sathak Engg. (Kilakarai) finished runner-up, while PSNA Engg. (Dindigul) came third.

Caldwell begins well

Caldwell College (Tuticorin) bt Mano College (Puliangudi) 25-9, 25-19 in the inaugural match of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University inter-collegiate volleyball tournament, at Palayamkottai on Tuesday.
