Sakthivel and Vallikannu win

Sivakasi: V.S. Sakthivel Pandian of Lions MHSS (Sivakasi) and M. Vallikannu of Anandha Vidyalaya (Rajapalayam) won the boys’ and girls’ under-15 titles respectively in the Virudhunagar District chess tournament, organised by Rathinam Chess Academy, at Sivakasi on Sunday.

Other winners:

Boys: Under-11: Shunmugaveerbagu (Rotary MS) 5/6; Under-9: M. Aravindasundar (Jaycees MHSS) 5/6; Under-7: M.B. Sabarinathan (Vidhya Mandhir) 6/6.

Girls: Under-11: R. Sonaa (Jaycees MHSS) 6/7; Under-9: R.S. Poojasen (Prachar MS) 5/6; Under-7: 1. R. Nandhini (Jaycees MHSS) 5/6.
AUCPE to the fore

Alagappa University College of Physical Education (Karaikudi) won the men’s and women’s titles in the Alagappa University inter-collegiate handball tournament and the men’s title in kho-kho at Karaikudi on Tuesday.

The results (all finals):

Handball: Men: AUCPE bt Arumugam Pillai Seethaaiammal College, Tiruppathur 24-25.

Women: AUCPE bt Alagappa Govt. Arts College, Karaikudi 18-8.

Kho-kho: Men: AUCPE bt Sethupathy Govt. Arts College, Ramanathapuram 13-2.
