Akhil propels Karnataka to big total

Bangalore: B. Akhil’s 117 (135b, 12x4, 2x6) helped Karnataka score 419 against Bengal in the two-day practice match that commenced at the RSI ground here on Tuesday.

B. Chipli (91), Barrington Rowland (88) and Deepak Chougule (74) also contributed as the host eased past the 400-run mark. For the visitor, seamer Ashok Dinda and left-arm spinner Murtaza Lodhgar claimed three wickets each.

The scores:

Karnataka XI 419 in 95.5 overs (B. Akhil 117, B. Chipli 91, B. Rowland 88, D. Chougule 74) vs Bengal XI.

Girish, Donald score

ADE defeated Oriental 2-1 in a State super-division league match at the Football Stadium here on Tuesday. Girish Kumar (58th) and Donald (81st) scored for ADE, while Ram Rao scored for Oriental in the 32nd minute.

Earlier, in an ‘A’ division league match, Thilak Memorial defeated RBI 4-0. Kiran opened Thilak Memorial’s account in the seventh minute and Anil Chetri widened the lead in the 24th minute.

Kiran scored again in the 27th and 71st minutes to put the match beyond RBI’s grasp.

The ‘C’ division league will commence at the Malleswaram Grounds on Wednesday.

Darshan delights

S.S. Darshan’s 76 helped Vice President’s XI defeat Bangalore City XI by seven wickets in a KSCA inter-district under-15 tournament match here on Tuesday.

Bangalore City scored 170 for eight in 50 overs and Vice President’s XI won in 40 overs.

The scores:

Bangalore City XI 170 for eight in 50 overs (S. Rahul five for 20) lost to Vice President’s XI 176 for three in 40 overs (S.S. Darshan 76).

Secretary’s XI 124 in 43 overs (R. Rahul four for 18) lost to Bangalore Zone 127 for one in 23.2 overs (O.B. Sai Kumar 72 n.o.).

Combined City XI 179 for four in 50 overs (Anirudh 47 n.o.) bt President’s XI 86 in 39.4 overs.

Good knock by Ajay

Ajay’s 83 guided MVJCE to a five-wicket victory over RVCE in a M.S. Ramaiah memorial inter-engineering colleges’ tournament match here on Tuesday.

RVCE scored 264 in 39.1 overs and MVJCE surpassed the total in 33.5 overs.

The scores: RVCE 264 in 39.1 overs (Siddharth Singh 64, S. Nitin 53, Kuttappa four for 57) lost to MVJCE 266 for five in 33.5 overs (Ajay 83, Prashanth 53, Kuttappa 52).

Coaching-cum-selection

The Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) will conduct a coaching-cum-selection camp at the Football Stadium here from Thursday.

The selected team will take part in the B.C. Roy Trophy National under-19 football tournament in Haryana.
