KOTTAYAM: The Kerala Congress (J) will decide on its ministerial candidate on October 12. Speaking on the occasion of the 44th founding day of the party here on Tuesday, party chairman P.J. Joseph said the name of the party’s candidate would be handed over to the Chief Minister on Friday. The party was waiting for the report of the police inquiry instituted into his alleged misbehaviour with a woman passenger on a flight from Chennai to Kochi. The investigation had dragged on for months and the Madras High Court had issued a directive to the police to submit the report within 30 days, against a submission made by him last month. “The court had issued the order on September 7 and the directive to the investigating officer had maintained that the report should be submitted within 30 days of receiving the order. Though the order was issued on September 7, it was received by the officer only on September 12,” he said and added that he was confident of getting a clean chit from the Tamil Nadu police since he had not committed the offence he was accused of. Mr. Joseph said that the medical report by a competent authority would prove it beyond doubt.
