Cement Corporation of India’s employees march to Collectorate

NEW LEASE: Employees and contract workers of the closed Cement Corporation of India unit at Adilabad taking out a rally on Tuesday, demanding revival of the factory.

ADILABAD: Employees of the Cement Corporation of India’s (CCI) closed unit in Adilabad on Tuesday marched to the district Collectorate under the banner of the CCI employees union (CCIEU) demanding revival of the unit. All India Trade Union Congress State secretary T. Narsimhan who participated in the chalo collectorate reminded the Government of the assurance for the unit’s revival given by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy before the last elections.

He criticised the Government for reneging on the promise. The factory required Rs. 90 crore for reopening of which Rs. 32 crore will be the State Government’s share, Mr. Narasimhan pointed out. He demanded the State to immediately release the required money, he said. Revival of the factory will not only augment production of cement in Government sector but will help stop increase in price of the product, he added. CCIEU president T. Rajanna, general secretary S. Vilas and others participated.
