Mahalaya celebrated

Aamra Kajon, a Bengali cultural organisation, celebrated Mahalaya – an auspicious occasion observed a week before Durga puja, by presenting a cultural programme at the Kali temple on the beach road on Tuesday.

The celebration began with a traditional song by Rekha Dey. Later it was followed by Egyptian folk dance, Bengali and Arabian folk songs, jhumur and tribal dances.

Dipali Josh, Akash and Sayanika sang Bengali rhyme.
