Good response from the students

Reserved category admissions on October 11

HYDERABAD: Counselling for medical stream students for admission into pharmacy courses began on Tuesday with good response from the students. Rankers till 11,000 ranks in the EAMCET were called on the first day.

According to Camp Officer Raghunath, 4,272 seats each were available for both the medical and engineering stream students.

However, only 714 candidates got admitted in the seats meant for engineering stream and the remaining would now be offered to the medical stream candidates.

He said the trend indicated that all the open category seats are likely to be finished.

APSCHE Chairman K.C. Reddy said that admissions for reserved category students would start on October 11. In view of the apex court’s directions, seats meant for Muslim students under reserved category would be kept aside and filled during the second phase depending on the Court’s orders. The case is posted for October 12. He said though some new colleges got permission for Pharmacy courses they were yet to take a decision whether to include them for counselling this year or not. He said the seats meant for Medical stream students in the new colleges could be offered this year though a decision has not yet been taken.
