MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the Chief Judicial Magistrate here to provide copies of the documents pertaining to the Sun TV attack case to an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionary.
Justice G. Rajasuria said any person affected by an order passed by a criminal court was entitled to copies of the court records on payment of prescribed charges under Section 363 (5) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The petitioner, M. Tamilchelvan, Madurai town secretary of the AIADMK advocates’ wing, alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation did not investigate the case properly.
Hence, he sought copies of the FIR, charge sheet and the statements of witnesses obtained under Section 161 (examination of witnesses by police) and 164 (recording of confessions and statements by Judicial Magistrates).
