for prohibition: Members of the Pattali Makkal Katchi’s women’s wing at a meeting in Cuddalore on Tuesday. —
CUDDALORE: The Cuddalore district women’s wing of the Pattali Makkal Katchi, at a general body meeting here on Tuesday, decided to launch a signature campaign to urge the State Government implement total prohibition.
Addiction to liquor caused problems to families and led to cultural degeneration.
The PMK would depute women’s teams to villages to create awareness of the evils of alcohol among the people, party sources said.
The women’s wing proposed to collect one lakh signatures during the campaign. It criticised the location of TASMAC outlets at public places such as bus stands, educational institutions and near places of worship. An outlet at the Palur bus stand should either be closed or shifted, the party said.
