Stray incidents
Staff Reporter
Kolkata: Three days after a ration dealer committed suicide in West Bengal’s Bankura district, a ration shop owner’s son allegedly killed himself in Birbhum district on Tuesday.
There has been a spate of violent incidents across districts of south Bengal over alleged malpractices in the public distribution system.
The suicide in Bankura district followed a verdict by a “people’s court” that imposed a hefty fine on him for alleged sale of rice and wheat in the black market. Stray incidents of violence were reported on Tuesday from various parts of Murshidabad as well as Birbhum district.
