Confiscated

Sirsi: In two raids by the Forests Department, wood worth more than Rs. 75,000 was confiscated at Bikkanalli and Kerekoppa in Sirsi taluk on Wednesday. However, the accused escaped. A case has been registered in this connection. In Yellapur, a man was arrested by the police while he was illegally transporting about 25 kg of sandalwood from the premises of a church. The arrested person has been identified as Basavaraj Valappa Lamani. Two of his accomplices escaped, according to police sources. — Correspondent
