YERCAUD: The Yercaud Pugazhenthi team beat the Muluvi Tribal village team in the final of the Police-public goodwill kabaddi tournament held at the Government Higher Secondary School premises here recently.
The police have been conducting sports and games events for tribals in Yercaud, on instructions from West Zone Inspector General of Police K. Rajendran to strengthen the police-public relationship.
Four teams from the tribal villages took part in the Kabaddi tournament. The winning team was selected to represent the district level police-public championship to be held at Salem shortly.
The sporting event had helped to strike up new and fruitful friendship between the police officials and the public.
It would also help motivate the youth to take more interest in sports and spend their time usefully, police officials said.
Yercaud Inspector K. Radhakrishnan and Sub-Inspector A. Prakash made the arrangements for the tournament.
