PATHANAMTHITTA: Nationalist Mahila Congress State president and former Pathanamthitta municipal chairperson Ajeeba M. Sahib has alleged that the two-year-old Pathanamthitta municipal council has miserably failed to address even the basic problems facing the common people, owing to gross mismanagement, lack of social commitment and responsibility, nepotism and corruption. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Ms Ajeeba called upon the municipal authorities to publish a White Paper on the civic body’s financial status without delay. She alleged that the civic body was facing revenue recovery proceedings from the Kerala Urban Development Financial Corporation (KUDFC) that had given a credit of Rs.2,83,30,000 for constructing the new private bus stand-cum-commercial complex in the town limits in 2004-’05. Ms. Ajeeba alleged that the dumping of waste in the water-logged open yard close to the new bus stand complex was a testimony to the civic body’s indifferent attitude.
