Scientists attacked

PANAJI: Some scientists sustained minor injuries when a survey boat carrying half a dozen scientists of the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) from its Regional Centre at Visakhapatnam was allegedly attacked by a group of people off the Udupi coast in Karnataka on Monday. Director of NIO S.R. Shetye told The Hindu on Wednesday that the full details of the incident were not available so far, but according to information received by him, some people attacked the group of scientists who were onboard a vessel, which was hired for conducting a survey at Udupi.
