Vivek slams century

TIRUCHI: R. Vivek scored an unbeaten century as DBTR National HSS, Mayiladuthurai defeated Srirangam Boys HSS by 67 runs and entered the inter-zonal final of the TNCA inter-school under-17 cricket tournament for the Boost Cricket Cup here on Wednesday.

The scores: DBTR National HSS 231 for four in 45 overs (R. Vivek 124 n.o., J. Vishnuraja 56) bt Srirangam Boys HSS 164 in 35.4 overs (V. Srinath 51 n.o., T. Ganesh three for 23).

Suresh scores half-century

R. Suresh scored an unbeaten half century as MAP CC defeated Golden Chariot ‘A’ by four wickets in a Canara Bank – Tiruchi DCA first division league cricket match here.

The scores: First Division: Golden Chariot ‘A’ 181 for nine in 42 overs (R. Ganesh 55, S. Raja 41) lost to MAP 183 for six in 31.4 overs (R. Suresh 51 n.o.).

Second Division: Jaguar CC 158 in 40.5 overs (M. Yuvaraj four for 35) lost to Pudukottai RC 162 for three (T. Dhanasekar 47).

Majestic CC 69 in 25.5 overs lost to Pudukottai RC 70 for two in 13.1 overs.

Third Division: Apollo CC 160 in 37.2 overs (Murali 56) lost to Golden Chariot ‘B’ 161 for six in 35 overs (R. Selvam 43).

Fourth Division: Krish CC 149 in 28 overs (Rajasekar 72, K. Mohan four for 30) bt Lehar CC 138 for seven in 30 overs. Srinivasa Nagar Blues CC 109 in 29.1 overs lost to Krish CC 113 for five in 22.2 overs.

Jamal Mohammed qualifies

Host Jamal Mohammed College and St. Joseph’s College have qualified for the Bharathidasan University inter-zonal volleyball tournament from the Tiruchi zone here on Tuesday.

The results: Semifinals: St. Joseph’s bt Srimad Andavan 25-3, 25-11; Jamal Mohammed bt Bishop Heber 25-11, 25-18. Third place (Tiruchi zone): Bishop Heber bt Srimad Andavan 25-15, 25-14.
