Chaitanya clinches title

DEHRADUN: Chaitanya Reddy of Andhra Pradesh defeated Udit of Uttarakhand 19-21, 21-9, 21-16 in the qualifying event of the 21st National sub-junior badminton championship at the Parade ground hall here on Wednesday.

In other interesting matches, seven-year-old local boy Lakshya beat Ojas Dudhane of Maharashtra 21-17, 21-15 and Ritesh Agarwal of Haryana pipped Riddhik Shah of Maharashtra 21-16, 19-21, 21-15.

The main draw will be played from October 12, and the players have to win four rounds in the qualifying event to make the grade. — Special Correspondent
