Keep away vendors from busy areas

Pedestrians should be given right of way and footpaths should be left to them. Vendors should be kept away from congested areas. Ubiquitous share autos hinder traffic while competing for business.

Road widening by acquiring property is not the solution to accommodate traffic.

An elevated rapid transit system and discouraging private vehicles offer some relief.

Zoning, particularly for educational institutions with a dedicated transport hub, will free Dwarakanagar. VUDA should earmark large chunks for parking and all commercial establishments should have their own parking lots.

Implement one-way

Wherever there is a parallel road, one-way traffic should be implemented. Pavements should be freed from encroachments.

Areas like Jagadamba Junction should be freed from all traffic – barring wheel chairs and shopping carts – and made a pedestrian mall.

Shift bus station to NH

Half the traffic problems at Dwarakanagar and Asilmetta will be solved if the bus stand is shifted to the National Highway, say to Maddilapalem.

Most other cities have shifted theirs to avoid traffic jams barring Visakhapatnam.

People coming from various parts of the State need not come to Dwarakanagar if the bus stand is shifted.

The vacant bus stand area can be used for paid parking.
