TIRUMALA: The stage is set for the grand conduct of the annual Navarathri Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara which are scheduled to take off on a colourful start from October 12. As the Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara are being observed for the second time this year owing to the ‘Adhika masam,’ neither the customary ‘Dhwajahrohanam’ nor the ‘Dhwajahavarohanam’ will be performed. However, as a prelude to the nine-day mega event the traditional ‘Ankurarpanam’ will be observed on Thursday. Important days during the nine-day festival is the conduct of the auspicious ‘Garuda seva’ on October 16 followed by the Pushpakavimanam on the 17th and the procession of the Golden chariot (Rathotsavam) on the 19th. The festival will conclude with the Chakrasnanam on the 20th. The TTD management on its part has made elaborate arrangements for the nine-day festival. With the Dasara holidays also coinciding with the festival period the management is anticipating a heavy turnout of pilgrims. With a wish to meet the requirements of the ordinary pilgrims, the management has dispensed with the VIP break darshan on all the festival days and also has made it clear that even the VIP recommendation letters shall not be entertained. Standing instructions also have been given to the Nitya annadanam officials to provide free food to all the visiting pilgrims irrespective of the number and also to the devotees waiting in the darshan queue lines apart from providing free milk to the families with infants and aged persons at regular intervals.
